- Active acne ( this may need calming before some treatments, but may benefit from more superficial peels ahead of a more aggressive program)
- Sunburn
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Some long term health conditions that affect healing
- open or unidentified lesions in the area to be treated
- Immune system deficiencies
- Recent laser resurfacing, peel or surgery
- High blood pressure
- Exposure to sunlight imminent ( including use of sunbeds)
- Allergies to any active ingredients
- Active Herpes Simplex ( cold sore virus) or recent cold sore
- Presence of keloid scars
Risks:
Short term risks include prolonged redness of the skin, tenderness and tingling and an increase in sensitivity Rarely laser treatment can trigger dormant viruses such as herpes simplex. We mitigate this by ensuring you are fully fit pre-procedure, ad if you have had numerous cold sores in the past, we may give you some preventative medicine
Long term risks usually arise from not following strict post procedure guidance. Occasionally there may be a temporary alteration in skin pigmentation, especially in darker skins, which usually resolves itself in time.
