Common Questions for Polynucleotides (FAQs)

Polynucleotides are ultra-purified DNA/RNA fragments (often derived from salmon or trout DNA) used in injectable skin treatments. They stimulate fibroblast activity, promote collagen & elastin production, enhance tissue repair, improve hydration and skin texture, and help with skin regeneration.

They are useful for many issues including fine lines & wrinkles, sagging skin / skin laxity, dark circles under eyes, rough texture, enlarged pores, dehydration, sun damage, stretch marks, scars (e.g. acne scars), and overall skin rejuvenation.

Usually a course of about 3 sessions spaced 2-3 weeks apart is recommended. Some people see initial improvements (hydration, glow, mild tightening) after the first session. More noticeable results in texture, firmness, reduction in fine lines etc will typically appear in 4-8 weeks after treatment. Full effect continues to develop over a few months. Maintenance sessions may be needed every 6-12 months.

Side effects are typically mild and temporary. You may experience redness, swelling, bruising, tiny bumps at injection sites, tenderness for 24-72 hours. Occasionally more prolonged redness or very mild irritation. Minimal downtime — most people return to normal activities quickly. Avoid sun exposure, strenuous exercise, harsh skincare (strong actives, acids, retinoids) for some days. Follow aftercare instructions.

Good candidates: people who want skin rejuvenation, improved texture, hydration, mild to moderate fine lines, dark circles, skin laxity, etc. Also those willing to follow aftercare. Not suitable for: those who are pregnant or breastfeeding; people with active skin infections or significant medical conditions; allergy to fish or shellfish (depending on source of treatment); those using certain medications that may interfere with healing. A consultation is necessary to determine individual suitability.
