Leukoderma, commonly known as Vitiligo, is a condition in which the skin loses its natural color and white patches develop. It occurs when melanin-producing cells (melanocytes) are destroyed or stop functioning.

Causes of Leukoderma:
    •    Autoimmune conditions
    •    Genetic factors
    •    Hormonal imbalances
    •    Trauma or injury to the skin
    •    Thyroid disorders or diabetes
    •    Stress or emotional shock

Common Symptoms:
    •    White patches on face, hands, feet, or lips
    •    Premature graying of hair
    •    Loss of color inside mouth or nose
    •    Symmetrical or random white spots

Treatment Options:
    •    Topical corticosteroid or calcineurin inhibitors
    •    Phototherapy (NB-UVB)
    •    Excimer laser
    •    Melanocyte transplantation (in selective cases)
    •    Camouflage makeup
    •    Counseling for emotional well-being

Though Leukoderma is not harmful physically, early treatment can help improve skin appearance and slow its spread.
